1000 Places to See Before You Die Traveler's Journal Travel Journal [E–pub/Kindle]

Th cream poured over it and the plays i saw at west end i remember bath saw at West End I remember Bath Stratford Upon Avon much better and Stonehenge I only got to see from a distance But reading this book made me want to go back again greece is a complete go back again Greece is a complete we saw The Acropolis which gets its own entry only from a distance Rome and Florence All I can tell you is reading this now I want to go back That s the primary emotion felt reading this looking backward and wishing I got out of where I had traveled rather than wanderlust looking at all the places I ve never been and probably never will For a bucket list the book isn t evocative enough for that Oh and would you believe there are some attractions listed in New York City I a native have never seen At least those are only a subway fare away 1000 Places reinvented the idea of travel book as both wish list and practical guide There are 600 full color photographs Over 200 entirely new entries including visits to 28 countries like Lebanon Croatia Estonia and Nicaragua that were not in the original edition There is an emphasis on experiences an entry covers not just Positano or Ravello but the full 30 mile stretch along the Amalfi Coast An interesting and great reference book I recieved this from my daughter for Father s Day 2008 As a guy who likes to travel it will provide me a place to eep my travel memories It was a pretty thoughtful gift and one I will use the rest of my life Good perspective and way to plan your travel itinerary Patricia Schultz does a marvelous job of accumulating an exhaustive list of many of the most interesting serene and beautiful places on our planet Her format is user friendly and simple yet not low brow You will treasure this book and guests to your home will find it remarkable. Hivers and uotes that will spark insight and provide writerly inspiration At the back of the diary is helpful nuts and bolts info time zones conversion charts telephone codes mini translation guides I received the book for Christmas a few years ago So far I think I ve visited 10 of 1000 I m working on it My I ve visited 10 of 1000 I m working on it My problem with 1000 Places to See Before you Die is that one thousand is such an unwieldy number I have a similar problem with lists like 100 Things to do IN NEW DELHI OR 50 RESTAURANTS TO TRY IN New Delhi or 50 Restaurants to Try in When there is no curation you might as well pick up an atlas and randomly select a destination In other words the book seems to recommend everywhere as a must see destination and though it would be nice to travel everywhere before you die it s highly unlikely So as an advice book this feels fairly useless As a reference book it fares slightly better However in an age of Foursuare TripAdvisor and omnipresent travel blogs the information seems to become outdated far too fast You re a lot better off with online guides that update freuently If someone comes out with a 100 Places to See Before You Die I d be much interested in reading that The reviews are well done and extensive however I felt it was leaning to the ultra wealthy There are places not mentioned that I have traveled to that are a most see but were looked over for mentions of expensive restaurants and hotels There s nothing wrong with having them in the book but it wasn t what I expected There s still some amazing places I now want to travel to I found some places in England and Israel that I d like to visit Maybe New Orleans but this book is missing some places in Missouri and Southern CA I didn t like the listings of hotels in it Unless it s a VERY famous hotel Don t list it I love books like these Full of descriptions and photos of beautiful exotic and sometimes remote places Good for fantasizing about where you ll go once you win the lottery and good for plann. Inspired by the roaring #1 New York Times bestseller 1000 Places to See Before You Die Traveler's Journal is perfect for giving it's specially designed for people who love to travel and want an elegan.
